How to restart your Apple iPod when it crashes / hangs

You and I both know that ipods sometimes crash, as great a product as it is, it still has its cons. The bad side of the ipod crashing or hanging is that there is no way to remove the battery for a hard reboot of the ipod’s internal software. So, I had a search on the internet on “How to restart the ipod when it hangs“, and boy was it hard to get a straight answer. I don’t even think the guys at Apple know how to restart their ipods, I mean other than the engineers. It would be funny if Steve Jobs fires an engineer, everytime an ipod Hangs.

Anyways, below are the steps to recovering your ipod after it hangs or crashes.

  1. Make sure you ipod has actually hanged or crashed, you will know if it is non responsive (pushing buttons with no key lock) and it doesn’t play any music.
  2. Press and hold both the Menu key and the middle button.
  3. Hold both these keys under your ipod gets forced into a reboot.
  4. If all else fails, call Apple and abuse the customer service representative.

If you know of a better way, or the OFFICIAL way to do it, do let me know, so that I can publish it for everyone’s benefit. I am 100% sure everyone will be happy to know that there is a way to restart an ipod.
